“Inspired by texture, light, spirit and sound, my creative process is channeling right through me and my strokes happen effortlessly.”

— Julia Scheuer

Julia Scheuer is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses large-scale paintings and metal sculptures. She is represented by Forre Fine Art Contemporary Gallery in Aspen, Colorado. Scheuer is known for her landscape-based practice, blending observational painting with memory, climate, and topography.

Born and raised in Germany in a family of respected artists, Scheuer developed her career as a painter of whimsical and evocative works. She is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her work has been included in internationally recognized charitable initiatives, including Art Walk, supporting the Coalition for the Homeless in New York City, and the Cura Children’s Foundation in Switzerland. Her work was also selected for a juried exhibition at the Deichtorhallen Museum of Modern Art in Hamburg, Germany.

Scheuer’s latest works explores the intersection of emotion and space through layered textures and muted tones, often accented with bright, linear strips of duct tape. These unexpected lines create dimensionality while breaking up the richly textured brushwork. Each piece invites the viewer to pause, look more closely, and listen to the silence within the landscape.

Expanding her practice into sculpture, Scheuer participated in steel and metal workshops at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado. Following this exploration, she was invited to exhibit her Aquatic Flower sculptures at the Leiber Collection Museum in East Hampton, New York, as part of the Ode to the Sea Sculpture Garden Exhibition. The works combine steel, metal, and sea-shaped driftwood, transforming organic and industrial materials into poetic interpretations of the natural world.

As described by Lyons Wier Gallery, “Julia Scheuer’s work evokes nature’s power to transform, restore, and endure.”
